My computer life started in December 1982, when I got a super little Sinclair ZX81 1K computer. Hey don't mock, from little Sinclairs, great Crays grow. I could have said from little Acorns, but it was not until the following Easter that I started using Acorn BBC B micros at school. Between November 1983 & March 1988 I owned an array of ZX Spectrum, starting with the good old rubber key 48K & ending with a 128K +3, via a 48+ & a 128+. In 1988 I moved over to 16 Bit with an Atari ST, which was a bad move as I'd become used to a friendly programmable home computer and now had something far less welcoming. Luckily Mandarin software released STOS & all was not lost. As I matured so did my computer equipment & the Commodore Amiga has been my machine of choice since 1989. My current A1200 handled everything from Video Production & Graphical work to DTP & databases until my Compaq Laptop PC came along to take over the DTP & some of the databases, in Autumn 1995. In January 1996 I finally got myself a career, after spending 6 years as a stock controller. This career was with a small company called Spex & meant that I used my office PC to do a hell of a lot of graphic & DTP work. In September 1996 I finally relented & invested in a home 686 based PC, which now acts as my workhorse, leaving the Amiga to collect dust. It amazes me that I have a PC that has eight times as much memory, almost eight times as much hard drive space & a much faster processor than my Amiga. It cost a lot more as well. I had a few teething problems with my PC when I first got it & I have always felt for people who are now buying computers for the first time, because they are still not quite as friendly as they should be for first time buyers.
